Baylor freshman Gary Moore, Jr. won the men's shot put gold medal for the United States with a fourth-round mark of 64-3.75 (19.60m) at the Pan American U20 Championships at Jose A. Figueroa Freire Stadium in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Moore, who extended the men's shot put winning streak for the Americans to five in a row, also placed seventh in the men's hammer throw final with a 212-10 (64.89m) performance.
